Sage Integration
Sage runs the books at a lot of logistics companies: Intacct in the US, Sage 200 and X3 in the UK. We connect it to the TMS that holds the shipments and the CRM that holds the customers.
Quick answer
How do you integrate Sage Intacct or Sage X3 with a TMS?
You integrate Sage Intacct through its REST API, which uses OAuth 2.0 and is where Sage releases new objects, or through the older XML API for modules REST does not cover yet. Sage X3 offers a GraphQL API and SOAP web services. In both cases an integration service reads shipments and charges from the TMS and writes customers and invoices to Sage.

How we approach it
Three Sage products, three different projects
"We use Sage" can mean Intacct, X3 or Sage 200, and they have nothing in common under the hood. Intacct is cloud and API-first; X3 is an enterprise ERP with GraphQL; Sage 200 is common in UK haulage and usually sits on-premise or hosted. We confirm the product and version before we quote.
The work itself is similar: shipments in, invoices out, balances to the CRM. What changes is how much of Sage's own data model we can use. On Intacct we often add dimensions for lane, mode or branch, so finance can report margin the way operations thinks about it.
Intacct REST, XML or X3 GraphQL: which Sage interface do you need?
Sage's products expose data in different ways, and the right interface depends on the product you run.
-
Sage Intacct REST API
Sage recommends REST for new integrations and releases new objects there. It authenticates with OAuth 2.0.
-
Sage Intacct XML API
The legacy API, still supported, with sender ID and session authentication. We use it where a module is not on REST yet.
-
Sage X3 GraphQL API
Sage's developer API for X3, alongside SOAP web services, so we can read and write sales and finance objects.
-
Dimensions for logistics reporting
On Intacct we map lane, mode, branch or customer group to dimensions, so the P&L reads the way your operations do.
Data mapping
Which shipment and charge records post to Sage?
Sage keeps the ledger. The TMS feeds it, and the CRM gets the balance.
-
Customer
From: TMS customer
To: Sage customer
When: Customer approved
-
Invoice
From: Closed shipment with sell charges
To: Sales invoice with lines and dimensions
When: Shipment closed
-
Bill
From: Carrier or haulier cost
To: AP bill linked to the shipment reference
When: Cost approved
-
Payment
From: Sage customer payment
To: CRM account balance
When: Payment applied
-
Credit
From: Sage credit limit or hold
To: CRM account property
When: Limit or hold changed

What sales and marketing get
What are the benefits of integrating Sage with your TMS and CRM?
-
Invoices without retyping
Shipment charges become Sage invoices automatically when the job closes.
-
Margin by lane and branch
Dimensions on every line let finance report margin the way operations runs the business.
-
Credit checks before quoting
Balances and holds from Sage appear on the CRM account.
-
Clean month-end
Every shipment has its invoice and its cost, so month-end accruals stop being guesswork.
What our team builds
What can F5 build on Sage?
Anything with an API, an EDI feed, a database or a file export can be connected. If the connector you found stops short, our engineers build the rest, from the first data map to the system in production.
-
Two-way sync
Sage records flow into HubSpot or Salesforce, and the changes sales makes go back where your process needs them. Real time where it matters, scheduled where volume is high.
-
Custom objects and fields
Invoices, payments, credit limits and margin per shipment as real CRM records, linked to the account, not notes in a text field.
-
Middleware you can trust
A layer between the systems with retries, logs and alerts, so a failed record is fixed in minutes instead of found at month end.
-
Revenue attribution
The campaign that produced each lead travels to the quote, the shipment and the invoice. Marketing reports revenue, not form fills.
-
Dashboards and alerts
Account health, volume drops, open quotes and overdue invoices as CRM reports and Slack or email alerts for the people who act on them.
-
Portals, quote tools and apps
Customer portals, instant quote tools and internal apps on top of Sage. See custom logistics software development.
Why logistics teams hire F5 for Sage
- Logistics first. We know how a shipment becomes an invoice and where margin leaks, so the data map starts from your operation, not from a generic ERP template.
- One team for engineering and growth. The people who build the integration also run campaigns on that data, so every field we sync has a sales or marketing use.
- Any system, any stack. APIs, SOAP and XML, EDI, databases, SFTP files and legacy on-premise systems. If the data exists, we can move it.
- Production standards. Monitoring, alerting, documentation and a handover your IT team can read. We support the build after launch.
- Scope before code. You get a data map and a build plan first, so you know what moves, in which direction and on which trigger before anything is built.

How Sage integration projects run
- Step 1
Map the data
We list the Sage records your sales and marketing teams need, agree the field mapping and decide which system owns each field.
- Step 2
Connect and test
We build the connection on the Sage interface your account licenses, with retries, logging and a test run on real records before go-live.
- Step 3
Turn data into pipeline
Dashboards, workflows and alerts in the CRM, so reps see shipments next to deals and marketing sees which campaigns produced revenue.
- Step 4
Monitor and extend
Error alerts, schema changes and new objects as you grow, with one team accountable for the integration and the marketing that uses it.
